Nerissa Granderson
Nerissa Granderson
attended Eldorado secondary UWI sixth form. She currently works with Caribbean Airlines as a flight attendant. Nerissa grew
up with 2 brothers and no sisters and thus had a strong sports influence specifically in the direction of football. Growing
up in D'Arbadie her free time was spent 'peeonging' sports specifically football and cricket.
In addition to her involvement in activities run by the D'Arbadie Community centre, she spent her childhood days
deeply involved in sporting activity. Table tennis was another of her favourite games, which took her all the way to national
tournaments where she had marginal success. Nerissa has never played professional football but she still loves the sport.
Supported by her brothers, she participated fully in neighborhood football recreation, always eager for an opportunity to
play against the other boys on her street. Dominating even her older brothers at the neighborhood football tournaments, Nerissa
became the resident 'star girl' in football within her community.
Nerissa admits to having competitive personality and belief in good sportsmanship in all aspects of life. Her mission
is to prove that women can do everything men can do in sport. She claims not to be a tomboy, just a sporty girl with many
other interests. With a little modeling as well as some theatre experience, drama and acting on the side, Nerissa maintains
a balance of interests but still has passionate love of sport. She plays the guitar and cuatro, and is a strong supporter
of local culture. Don't underestimate the pretty face, she is sassy, opinionated and a die-hard Man U supporter.
With RAW FOOTBALL Nerissa brings a desire to offer a female perspective on the sport.
Recognizing the community centered aspect of Gayelle The channel she jumped at the opportunity to be involved in the RAW FOOTBALL
project. Nerissa believes that sports can play a large role in community building, and that football specifically can hold
a neighborhood together. She also believes in the unifying power of sports and that the RAW FOOTBALL show gives the average
sports fan an opportunity to voice their opinions.
"This show gives the
real perspective of the people on sport and I am really happy to be a part of bringing that to television and giving it a
space in the media." - Nerissa.
Kevin Hoyte
From San Fernando to Belmont and now Maloney, Kevin Hoyte continues to keep the sporting spirit alive in every neighborhood
into which he ventures. As the ‘Street Football King’ in his community from age 14 to 19 years, he and his friends
orchestrated the first ever ‘World Cup’ tournaments-street style, “…‘sweating ball’ till
the grass turned to dust and the dust end up in people house.”
A former student of Mount Hope Secondary and Barataria Senior Comprehensive football has been a large
part of his life from his school days onward. He contributed extensively to these neighborhood football tournaments, as a
striker and a champion for the ‘raw passion’ behind the game. A Real Madrid fan “for life”, Kevin
has aspirations to become a coach, with plans to attend a football coaching school in London to gain his coaching license.
On Raw Football, Kevin is the referee--- objections down the line. Aggressive in his love of the sport of football, he critically
assesses the strategies, the coaches, the players and even the fans. Whether on or off the field, Kevin tackles all football
issues head on.
