Oh Gad, we bun!... We tired...
We Breathless, we Get On enough to Blaze De Trail through a Fiery Carnival for 2008!
We want to thank all our viewers from Trinidad
and Tobago as well as Internationally for tuning into Gayelle for our "Hidden
Jewels" Season for Carnival 2008. This BlogSpot
is a place where you can keep up to date with what goes in D Gayelle and is a place where you can also give us direct feedback
on anything and everything about or station. So doh be shy, sent us a shout!
Now, to start off, during Carnival Tuesday Gayelle made an effort
to add a different flavour to Carnival coverage by implementing a segment where we showed some clips of carnival celebrations
in Rio, Brazil. Most people enjoyed the clips as well as the opportunity to call in LIVE and in our JumpTV chat room to comment
on the differences and similarities between the two festivals.
On the other hand, there were some other people
who get BLUE vex!
Here's one comment that came over our JumpTV chat room:
"Why is "WE OWN TV" giving us Rio Carnival on Prime Time TV Carnival Tuesday ? and He Uncle
Errol went on to say how Rio is the place to be ? so much for "WE OWN" we would never learn!!" "Errol's praise of Brazilian carnival should remain his personal view. We, the rest of the world, cannot
prefer the suffocating, state-controlled like exhibition to the spontaneous, pragmatic style of the Caribbean.
He must have been duped by the Brazilians"
Now, lewwe set the record straight eh.
The choice to show Rio carnival was to give audiences a chance to see how our mas compares to another Carnival
festival like Rio. We received several call-ins on Carnival Tuesday, and what people commented was that although Rio
Carnival is choreographed with elaborate floats, Trinidad Carnival gives mas players the freedom of the road to fully express
themselves.
Gayelle,
The Channel is not just about wine and jam, we are forward thinking and progressive in how we look at "we" tv and
the world around us.
So what do you think?
Is there room around Carnival time to do a serious comparison between Trinidad Carnival and others around the world?
